Historic Sites

The ancient Kingdom of Fife has always been at the heart of Scottish history and still cherishes its wealth of castles and palaces, cathedrals and historic sites.

The many royal connections of the area are still evident, from the abbey at palace at the ancient Scottish capital of Dunfermline through to Falkland Palace - home to the Stewart kings and queens.

Fife's ecclesiastical past is also a major source of historic sites with stunning churches, abbeys and the ruins of the magnificent St Andrews Cathedral - once the largest building in Scotland and for many years the centre of the country's religious life.
