The Peat Inn - Best Scottish Rural Restaurant of the Year!

2008-02-01

Fife has once again shown that it is top of the league for quality cuisine with success in the Scottish Restaurant Awards, held in Edinburgh on 28th January.

The Peat Inn near Cupar was named the Best Rural Restaurant of the year beating Michelin Star winner Champanay Inn & award favourite the Three Chimneys on Skye to the prestigious award.

The VisitScotland Five Star restaurant with rooms was bought from the previous owner by Geoffrey & Katherine Smeddle in 2006 and since then the former coaching inn has gone from strength to strength. Geoffrey was formerly head chef at Etain, the first of Sir Terrance Conran's destination restaurants to be outside of London and is a recipient of numerous awards.

Geoffrey recognises that the hard work and dedication of his staff within the Inn is what has ultimately led to their success. Their use of fresh, seasonal and local ingredients ensure that the food from the kitchen is always of the highest quality and the superior service guarantees that patrons flock to sample the delicious fare on offer.
