Elie Holiday Park

2011-06-13
A new themed activity area which draws on a piece of fascinating seafaring history has just been opened at Elie Holiday Park in Fife.
?Robinson Crusoe Adventure Park? has been specially built, as part of a major investment programme, to reflect the area?s connections with famous Largo sailor Alexander Selkirk.
Selkirk, and his experiences at the beginning of the 18th century on an island in the archipelago of Juan Fernandez, off the coast of Chile, provided the inspiration for Daniel Defoe?s famous book Robinson Crusoe.
The impressive and unique structure, commissioned from Russell Play, takes the form of a sailing ship linked to a desert island.
The facility was opened by John Parker, the chair of the Fife Tourism Partnership.
